Speaker Bio:
Lakshmi Narayan had a life-changing awakening experience with Ayahuasca in 1996, and another life-changing experience with Ibogaine in 2015. She knows first-hand the power of entheogens aka pssychedelics to heal personal trauma and evolve one’s consciousness. She has dedicated her life and communications skills to educating people about entheogens and to creating pathways for those suffering from addiction, trauma, and other ills to heal and awaken with plant medicines, in particular iboga and ibogaine.
Dr. Tracy Ganske is a plant medicine practitioner and medical researcher who offers a course on how to prepare for and administer ibogaine for addiction recovery and iboga for psychosiritual expansion and the chemical and alchemical diffferences between the two
Tracy is a cancer researcher with a PHD in biotech medicine and functional medicine and a degree in nursing anesthesiology, but her main claim to fame is her extensive experience with iboga, having traveled all over the world and worked with indigenous iboga traditions in the Bwiti of Gabon as well as the pygmies of Cameroon in the Congo.
Deanne is the founder of Being True To You, a transformational coaching and training company. She has a masters in mental health and counseling and over the last 10 years has found her passion and mission to help people understand and transcend addiction and other states of suffering through personal transformation and natural maturation.
With an Earthy and Grounded Nature, Asha Caravelli has worked alongside Rocky Caravelli and the Dreamhouse staff to facilitate Ibogaine Treatments over a 14 year living apprenticeship. Formally trained by the Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Foundation Mexico Centro in Compassionate Accompaniment as a Life, Death and Transition Doula, Asha supports others through the Liminal Space of Initiation primarily by a devotional daily practice of self-care and ongoing education, remaining ready to hold a safe container without need to change or direct what the spirit brings. Daughter of Ross Kent and Paula Kent. Mother to Delani and Rocco Caravelli. Grandmother to Leon Emiliano, 21 months. As a Grandmother Asha takes the “long view” of her own healing, her family’s well-being and her relationship with Iboga. She’s happiest outside in nature and at the stove preparing fresh food with Love.
In 2003, Rocky Caravelli was part of the first litter of 2500 people in the Western World to take Ibogaine for addiction interruption. At that time he was an IV drug user of heroin, Methadone 80mg a day, methamphetamine. He stayed at the Ibogaine Association for 9 months and observed 75 people in a hospital setting receive ibogaine mostly for opiate dependence.
In the late 90s, Chris Jenks was working on his doctorate degree in organic chemistry at the University of California, Davis. Discouraged by the conventional career opportunities available to chemists, Chris was looking for a way to use his training that could really help people. That was when he discovered the work that Howard Lotsof and his contemporaries were doing with ibogaine. After compiling the available scientific literature on ibogaine, Chris traveled to France and Italy to develop and publish a procedure to extract total alkaloid (TA) and purified total alkaloid (PTA HCl) from iboga root bark.
Presentation Abstract:
In a compelling dialogue titled “MDMA: Bridging the Gap Between Healing and Joy,” Stephanie Karzon Abrams (MS Clin Pharm) and Jane Garnett (LMFT) expand on the therapeutic aspects of the psychedelic experience, especially MDMA. They discuss their personal and professional experiences, the science behind MDMA and its therapeutic potential, and the importance of integrating these experiences into daily life. The conversation also touches on the influence of the cultural aspects of recreation and dance, applications in relationships and intimacy, and the exploration of altered states through legal plant medicines like kana, cacao, and cannabis. Through their exchange, they shed light on the potential of psychedelics to enrich personal growth and societal wellbeing, and demonstrate that healing and joy go hand in hand.
Speaker Bio:
Stephanie’s career as a clinical pharmacologist transcends traditional boundaries. Just as the laboratory bench symbolizes her educational roots, her journey has extended further, blending clinical excellence with strategic mindset, and entrepreneurship with artistry. Through her consultancy, Beyond the Bench, her goal is to provide comprehensive guidance and expert advice, offer open access education, conduct research, and support initiatives seeking to make a positive impact, in order to redefine the landscape of healthcare and support access to psychedelics and plant medicines. Beyond healthcare, Stephanie has ventured into creating communities centered around music, philanthropy, and the fantastic world of fungi.
Jane Garnett is an Oxford-educated Marriage and Family Therapist, EMDR practitioner, and host of the podcast “Sex, Psychics & Psychedelics.” Jane has produced several films including executive producing “The Illusionist,” Co-producing “Of Night and Light: The story of Iboga and Ibogaine” and advising on the Michael Pollen series “How to Change your Mind.”
